I don't underestimate their ability but I know the audience at Fox is shrinking, so the wingers are mostly preaching to the choir, that 15-20% that still ardently supports Bush.

They aren't impacting the center. People are fed up with the BS in Iraq much more than they are afraid of another 9/11. That's why Cheney has become a comical dark figure, lurking in the rafters and tossing out his evil pronouncements about our impending doom if we don't give him free rein.

Short of another 9/11, can you imagine a set of messages or issues that would pull the political center away from the "let's get something done" focus and back to the "support Bush or you'll die!" mentality?

I don't. JMHO.
