Let me restate your position for clarity.

More like, "let me distort your position for rhetorical purposes".

A more accurate way of stating my position, is that government interventions in economic decision making, are generally inefficient and act to impose government control, so its best to limit or eliminate them.

Increasing taxes and government regulations increases freedom.

I disagree with that position.

So do I but it isn't very relevant.

Its not entirely irrelevant, getting rid of loopholes does lead to a net tax increase. Ideally it should come together with a reduction of marginal rates. Of course Bush already has reduced marginal rates, but it wasn't at the same exact time, or as part of the same plan as this change.
