Inspectors were there doing the work of the UN -- they asked to be given time to continue as they were becoming more clear that there was nothing in Iraq -- and most certainly nothing that could be considered a threat to the United States. The war proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that the inspectors were right on -- we found nothing, not just little, but nothing, nada, zero. Had we let the inspectors find continue to grow more confident that there was nothing to find in Iraq, which is why nothing was being found, then we would have lost the chance to pass off the big lie on America -- and lets not pussy foot around about what the big lie is -- the big lie was that Iraq was a threat to the United States. Bush needed the big lie to invade -- he was given the tools by the likes of Cheney, and he became the public face of the big lie.

Read what Hagel says -- Congress and the country were deceived by doctored evidence used to tell the big lie. Congress passed a resolution after Bush lied to Hagel's face, and after those around Bush lied to Hagel. Like so many, Hagel regrets buying into the big lie. He did not do his job. Nor did Congress. Their job was to be sure that Bush and those around Bush were not lying to the American people -- they failed us, and now they are angry that they were lied to and did not do enough to stop a war that was based on the big lie.
