Most health insurance is paid for by employers

That is as intelligent as claiming that employers pay half of SS & Medicare taxes. Trust me 100% of what your employer pays you and on behalf of you is "your pay". That is what it cost your employer to obtain your service. The ONLY reason to look at it any other way is for the tax implications.

We're talking about spreading risk, not about absolute or relative costs.

BS. If universal health insurance cost the average taxpayer an additional $500/year, there would be zero argument over it. Done and finished problem.

You're not making any sense and it's still quite clear to me that you do not understand either the concept of insurance or the idea of risk.

Ok, give me your best, most concise definition of insurance. I guess I should have started there. Sorry I didn't.
