I dont like how all this talk is going. Remember we HAVE military interests in Turkey and have for a very long time.
Here are the facts as I know them:
The Turkish Kurds are acting as terrorists and attacking innocent Turkish citizens, when the turkish army comes in they flee across the border into Iraqi Kurdish land. (the border in that area is very mountainous). Turkey cant pursue as the USA has asked them not too. Its presently a bit unclear as to whether or not the Iraqi Kurds are giving the Turkish Kurds assistance, I personally hope not. Now, in Iraq we have the Kurdish portion that is well policed, almost perfectly safe (more so then most of our cities in USA) and very fond of Americans for the assistance we have given them. Now, if we play this wrong we could end with BOTH SIDES PRESENTLY OUR ALLIES HATING US. We need to act as a friendly mediator to both, show no favortism but do our best in a gentlemenly way to prevent EITHER from damaging the other. If it turns out IRAQ must be partioned, PERHAPS the Kurds could get enough territory that there would be room for a new MIDDLE EAST NATION called KURDISTAN and Kurds from Turkey and even Iran could come in. Then we would have Turkey, Kurdistan and Israel, all with strong armies as our allies along with Afghanistan. That would be a pretty formidable foe against the terrorists of the middle east. jdn
