In this case without researching the beginnings of tax preferences on health care related non wage benefits there is not evidence that unlimited tax deductible health insurance qualifies as "government intervention in economic decision making". There is a priori evidence that government changing the rules is "government intervention in economic decision making". Thus until we have a reasonable understanding of the consequences of the proposed change, rushing to support seems premature.

Who knows what inspired President Bush to suggest it. Perhaps he is hunting for some legacy to be remembered by other than the President who lead.
