1) Europe gave the world democracy.

2) America had its nazis, Lindberg for one. And its appeasers, and its isolationists.

The Yalta and Potsdam conferences divided Europe into Eastern and Western Europe. It's a school boy debating trick to claim that NATO alone was the reason why Western Europe was not over run by the USSR.

The US managed to dupe the world into believing that the USSR was a super power. We know now that it wasn't. Its military couldn't function and there is good reason to believe that the CIA and the government knew this. By keeping people frightened the US government kept the military industrial complex well heeled.
