The Methane, as scrubbed Biogas (..70% CH4 / 30% CO2..), is typically used as it is produced in engine-generators for dairy power and low-pressure boiler fuel to make the rinse water and sanitizing water for the milking parlor and elsewhere. It can also be used for space heating equipment in the winter time.

With the exception of AADS digesters that have a double cover system, their outer covers being a protective air-structure and the inner covers being expandable and capturing the Biogas (..each 35'x200' digester cell has 48 hours internal storage capacity..), the farmers usually have to use it or flare it off with the included safety and pressure-relief torch.

One could use a large LP gas tank, or an old typical liquid ammonia tank for moderately pressurized storage; liquefaction is too costly. That way they would have spare Biogas available for high use periods or operating a Peaking generator for grid export power at better prices. It all depends on the size of the (CAFO) animal operation and digester system size involved.

The best scenario is to have a large gas user like a grain drier, a company with a natural gas-fired power boiler, or an Ethanol plant nearby to sell some or all of the gas to. The newest solution is to have your own mini-Ethanol plant onsite, as offered by ONYI, and use the Biogas to fuel it's boiler, also.
