1. Getting rid of the AMA monopoly.
2. Getting rid of deadly, incompetent doctors.
3. Having basic, ongoing health care for everyone so that minor disorders don't become life threatening emergencies.
4. Stopping the subsidies for things like high fructose corn syrup.
5. Getting rid of television advertising for soft drinks, chips and fast food.
6. Subsidizing locally grown green leafy veggies, sidewalks and exercise classes.
7. Etc.

I want health CARE, not health INSURANCE. If insurance for catastrophic events is part of health CARE then fine but it is NOT equivalent to health CARE.

An OK start. I agree with most of your list. However, nothing in that list addresses the issue that health conditions also involve statistically rare and very expensive conditions. Cancer, etc. That is the function of insurance. Why can't you understand that insurance addresses one very important aspect of medical financial reality? Your list above completely ignores this aspect, yet it is the dominant aspect that affects most people. Basic health care is sufficently cheap that most people can afford it. The uninsured don't have a problem unless they find themselves sick. It is when you really get sick that you have a problem. Nobody needs to subsidize food either, it is also cheap enough.
