I've no grave issues with bringing in those who are less educated along with the potential cream of the crop, since opportunities will allow their conditions to self-correct over time, with succeeding generations establishing their own levels of competence and stature. On average, it's been a formula that has worked to the benefit of all in too many ways to list here, in comparative terms, for centuries.

Frank, I could not agree more with the above statement. I just have a serious problem with going after the "best and brightest". A, what is the criteria for "best and brightest", and B, who has been excluded as a result of that criteria. I have managed and watched the careers of many "best and brightest" for much of my life -- many have done extremely well, but many more have been outperformed by truly hard working, dedicated and personable every day ordinary people.
