John,

I see software distribution via 1.44 MB floppy disappearing
relatively soon. More and more software, especially updates
and upgrades will be done via the net (if the program is
sufficiently small to be transferred relative quickly over
standard modem speeds). Larger programs will be distributed
via CD-ROM.

Just yesterday I had a friend come to my house so he could
upgrade his version of Ray Dream Designer. It was sent on
CD-ROM and he doesn't have a CD-ROM. But we both have Zip
drives, so he was able to use my CD-ROM and install his upgrade
directly to his Zip disk. Zip to the rescue!

John.
