As a mayor, no one "liked" him, but he was very widely respected. His enemies at first tried to paint him as a "devil", but this did not stick. He is a solid leader, and I think he'd probably be a great President.

Rudy has some baggage that will come out in the campaign. Not only socially liberal positions on abortion, but personal. On Sept 10th, he was an old goat going through a messy divorce and a menage à trois. Then on Sept 11th he became a national hero.

He has a big ego and can't stand to share the limelight. I never liked the way he ran Police Commissioner Bratton out of town because frankly he was too successful and got too much attention.

I'll wait and see how he performs. Presidents need to be team builders. So far I don't think much of either Rudy or McCain on that score.
