A while back, I read an article about the current generation of teens and 20-somethings, and the point of the article was that as a group they are very much more in touch with each other, and do a much better job of communicating and staying in contact than we old fogies do.
This is due to things like texting, and also to sites like myspace.com and facebook.com, where the kids have profiles.
By way of example, in the past month, my daughter has told me of two old friends of hers (who go back to elementary school days in a town we moved from when she was 8 years old) who have contacted her through Facebook.com. That is just incredible, I think. I wish our generation had a way to get in touch with long lost friends that way.
These sites shrink the world down, so that it doesn't matter if you live in Washington State or New York, you can still stay in touch.
Hmmmmm, now that I think of it, SI serves sort of a similar purpose. |
