re: IF there were any strategic interests in South East Asia, that had ended long before. To stay would have served no interests and would have resulted in more casualties. Exactly. If "a war" doesn't have any achievable end, you can't "win", no matter how many battles you win. And Iraq is even more F'ed up than Vietnam; we don't even know whose side we are on.
