Altruism is probably giving me way too much credit. As a practical matter, I believe it could be done in 90 days.

It would be more dangerous than it is now - when you begin a redeployment, you are at your most vulnerable. But evacuation to the south toward Kuwait and SA could be done - then you send our troops home in an orderly fashion from there.

Or....at 150,000 soldiers - 300 per flight - 500 hundred total flights to Kuwait or Weisbaden over 60 days with between 8 and 9 flights a day. You keep an air/cav brigade in place to watch the perimeter of the airport and those guys fly out when it's the last transport jet is out. And, at a really ugly level, in advance of all this, I'd sit with both the Shia and Sunni militias separately and bribe them with a boatload of money not to get involved during the deployment....try to broker some kind of deal....might not work, but it's worth a shot.

There's couple of scenarios.
