Motorola expands use of TI Omap for 3G, WiMax Loring Wirbel -- EE Times -- 01/29/2007 12:56 PM EST COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Motorola is broadening its use of Texas Instruments' Omap microprocessor series, standardizing on Omap2, Omap3 and Omap-Vox designs for a variety of 3G and WiMax products. The move is a further indication that Motorola may be pulling back from StarCore and other designs that originated with spinout Freescale Semiconductor. .... TI will develop custom WiMax chip sets, including both baseband DSP and analog/RF components, for Motorola's WiMax push. TI also will provide process, foundry and design expertise for the WiMax effort.
