It's just a he said, she said thing....

Lots of different evidence is used in trials besides physical evidence.

There's the testimony of eyewitnesses, there's circumstantial evidence, etc.

If Bill had honestly identified the government employees he had sexual relations with, and the women had honestly admitted it, their testimony would have enhanced Ms. Jones's credibility.

It would have made her testimony more believable. The legal mumbo jumbo is that it would have added to the weight of the evidence.

That's why lying about this hurt her case.

That's why it's not just a "private matter." He obstructed justice and perjured himself in order to save his ass in a civil action.
