Sirf Technology quarterly earnings fall

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Sirf Technology Holdings Inc.

SIRF (28.20+4.41 After Hour, Jan. 30, 2007) after Tuesday's closing bell reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $9.1 million, down from $10.23 million in the same period the prior year, mainly due to higher stock-based compensation and acquisition-related contingent payments. The San Jose, Calif.-based provider of software location platforms posted per-share earnings applicable to shareholders of 16 cents compared with 19 cents the prior year. Excluding stock-based compensation, among other items, Sirf said per-share earnings came in at 28 cents a share vs. 22 cents the prior year. Revenue rose 36.6% to $74.2 million from $54.3 million. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial had expected per-share earnings of 24 cents, on revenue of $70 million.
