Choban,
Wow, I'm starting to understand your concern here now - just clicked your name and checked out your profile. It appears that you are a "Marketing director for wearable computers, satellite comms, networking, VOD Servers & SW". I think I'm starting to figure out where all this XYBR-Bashing is coming from. You don't like that XYBR patent one bit do you? Compututing Devices probably doesnt either. Again, I answer the question...What's to stop companies such as IBM, HP, DELL, GATEWAY or the company you work for - Computer Devices to make a similar product? Answer: The BROADLY worded patent# 5,305,244 filed almost 6 years ago in 1992. I'm not entirely sure about this (Besides NOT being a XYBR employee, Kaz is also NOT a patent attorney) but after reading the information at the US Patent office, I would think that ANYONE who were to create a small portable computer that used Voice-Recognition for it's user interface would have a lawsuit on their hands from XYBR. Also, after listening to the conference - it seems that XYBR has a patent attorney to do just that - enforce the patent. Oh well..at least I know why your so upset.
