LOL, you are a riot Geode

Please tell me how you go bankrupt over Medical bills, if you have reasonable insurance. We can't make any progress unless you understand that.

"Some of them are driving new cars rather than buying insurance."

This is the same kind of rightwing nonsense that has images of welfare queens driving pink cadillacs dancing in your head. PROVE IT. What % of the uninsured are buying new cars when they could be buying what type of insurance?

I have two Hispanic farm employees. They both drive newish (not new I admit, but only a couple of years old) cars, purchased on terms from a dealership, and neither has medical insurance. Indeed, looking around in the orchards here, I'd say that fully 25% of the vehicles are less than 4 years old, and I'd guess that 95%+ of those driving them lack medical insurance. The popular vehicles are fullsize american pickups & SUVs. Even used, these are easily in the $20K+ range, and the Hispanics often get screwed by the dealerships on total price, since they don't seem to understand anything except what the monthly payment is. A young Hispanic girl who works with my wife bought a one year old Neon, and had not a clue what the total price was. When my wife sat down and worked it out with her, it came to almost $19K. I felt like driving over and wacking the dealer with a 2x4. This is an 18 year old HS drop out they're screwing. If you want to bitch about corrupt right-wing capitalism, bitch about that. She assuredly lacks medical insurance as well. At least she works, at McDonalds. And she has a nice, clean car to pick boys up in. We all make choices...

Wrong. Medicare can be expanded to cover EVERYONE. As far as I can tell, it can be done unilaterally by Bush...tomorrow.

As can private insurance. Why can't you tell me why Medicare can be expanded and private insurance with taxed based wealth transfer cannot be??

What he spends on stupid wars is simply another possible source to pay for health care, it has nothing to do with the type of system that will provide the best value.
