Smoking in a car isn't something that should be a criminal act. I don't have to be in favor of it to be against harsh penalties against people who do it.

Besides, less people getting 'smoking' diseases saves the gov't money. That should pique the conservative's interest and support.

Its not clear that it does. People get government money for health care costs related to smoking, but people also die earlier if they smoke so they get less SS and they get less medical costs for other conditions.

Either way the cost to the government isn't my biggest concern. Lots of draconian restrictions could in theory, or even in reality, cut government's costs.
