Interseting article in the Report on Business Section of The Globe and Mail (Toronto edition of Cdn paper) : Pg B11, Browser column... some quotes from Cameron Myhrvold, VP responsible for new Internet and online services. Cameron goes on to talk about Microsoft's extensive cash position, and their strategy of growing the internet pie by getting involved in such things as WebTV, a chunk of Comcast (Philadelphia cable co.)as well as the following excerpt: Microsoft is working with GTE of Stamford Conn., on the telephone industry's broadband technology,...(ADSL). The The two companies are working on a 1,000 home ADSL trial in Seattle. "we're going to expand that to other cities and try to have a commercial launch with GTE in a very aggressive time line", Mr. Myhrvold says. "There's an example of a company that is very aggressive".
