Elizabeth Arden Raises the Low End of Earnings Guidance, Expects to Spend on Global Roll-Outs

NEW YORK (AP) -- Elizabeth Arden Inc., a beauty products maker, on Thursday raised the lower end of its fiscal 2007 earnings guidance on expectations of higher sales.

The company expects sales to rise 15 percent to 18 percent in 2007, assuming current foreign currency rates. That implies sales between $1.1 billion and $1.3 billion.

Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expect revenue of $1.1 billion.

The company raised its earnings outlook to between $1.15 and $1.20 per share, from previous expectations of between $1.10 and $1.20 per share.

Analysts see earnings of $1.14 per share fore the year.

In the current third fiscal quarter Elizabeth Arden expects to incur the final transition expenses for the Sovereign Sales acquisition and to spend more to support the global roll-out of fragrances and skin treatments.

Arden shares fell 70 cents, or 3.7 percent, to $18.20 in premarket activity.
