Most people have no choice about insurance because they get it from their employers. If they go to a different job or lose their job and they have preexisting conditions, they aren't going to get those covered.

Excellent. You have finally hit a valid point. As I have pointed out to you a number of times, this is the result of not having mandatory coverage. It has nothing to do with single vs multi-insurance companies.

If everyone is always covered, portability can be solved. It does not require Medicare.

I remember a TV magazine piece on an upper middle class family where the wife had cancer or some other serious disease. Her insurance company wouldn't pay for the drug she was taking so they were paying $8K or thereabouts A MONTH for it.

This is another place your are very seriously out to lunch. You think Medicare has wider coverage than most health insurance. Medicare pays a much smaller fraction for most treatments than does private insurance. Why do you think many health care providers are refusing new Medicare patients? You completely fail to consider that Medicare's approach to the problem is to legislate lower prices, then leave their clients to try and get service somewhere. LOL!

Stop confusing where the money comes from (us taxpayers) with the mechanism of insurance (Medicare single-payer, or private insurance companies)
