If it wasn't for the fact that Bell Labs invented the transistor these backward jerks would still be using vacuum tubes, or in the Euro vernacular... Valves.

There are still plenty of areas in Europe where they still don't have indoor plumbing and still use donkey carts as the mode of transportation.
