I've never heard of stocking high mountain lakes. There isn't a way to get to them other than hiking or horseback. My cousin was head of our Game and Fish Department for the Western Slope for many years. He stocked all Western Colorado lakes they could get their equipment into. Large trucks filled with thousands of trout. Of course, they were fished out in a single season and it had to be repeated each spring. Fortunately, the high lakes (most at or above timberline) aren't that heavily fished so they have no need for artificial stocking.
