I somewhat agree with that, and clearly stated what I see as the main issue: The use of insurance as a method of payment and the resulting loop dynamics when an ill person seeks treatment. Nobody here has addressed that issue.

It is fine to fault the existing system, but please try to isolate what the issues are. To claim as Geode does, that the problem is profit, without being able to offer any reasonable argument for why profit causes problems in health care but not in other fields is unreasonable.

Similarly if you really think that Medicare is more efficient in overhead than private insurance, then why not contract management of US car companies to the Government as well. Why is it that the government is more efficient at administrative functions in the medical field than in other fields. I'm asking for a reality check.

You might note that many of the countries in Europe that have socialized medicine were also much more socialistic in other areas a few decades ago. Why have they shifted to less socialism in other aspects of their economies? That is the issue I'm asking for some rational about.
