"It's ridiculously easy to nominate someone for that award." Not really. Nominations are by invitation only. Can I nominate someone for the Nobel Prize? If you are not invited you cannot nominate. Qualifications to nominate candidates vary somewhat among the different Nobel Prize Committees.
