Katelew, who do you think drafted that "news" article?

In Mississippi, Attorney General Jim Hood has bludgeoned insurer State Farm into a gigantic settlement over hundreds of dubious claims.....

The judge might also have wondered if Mr. Scruggs and his legal team were going to ride off with as much as $46 million.....

The insurance industry has spent billions of dollars to assist the recovery after Katrina. Who's going to pay when the next storm hits?......

I seem to recall investigative reporting of State Farm getting caught forging "expert" reports alleging "no wind damage" in order to avoid paying claims. The experts who'd allegedly drafted the reports confirmed that their names were forged and that the reports were bogus.

But the article would indicate that this is just another instance where poor little State Farm and the other companies have been victimized by those nasty victims, liberal courts, greedy attorneys and now conservative legislators.

We've heard that insurance whine so often that we believe it without thinking. It's remarkable how a lie repeated for years without contradiction will become woven into the fabric of our "common wisdom."
