HELLO to all who come to read and lurk without posting.

Since Alcatel-Lucent warned on 1/23/07 (a week ago) the stock has been falling, dropped $1.04 the first day from $14.19 the day before to close at $13.15 the day of the warning. It dropped from $13.00 Wednesday to $12.84 yesterday. Today it continues to drop.

Since the company "warned" back on 1/23/07, it makes me want to know what other bad news is out there that causes investors to keep selling.

Alcatel-Lucent is scheduled to officially announce earnings from Paris (as if geography would make a difference) next Friday, 2/9/07.

I only have 80 shares of this ... OOPS!! ... the 80 was Lucent shares which have morphed into 15 shares of Alcatel-Lucent ... and since I worked a total of 35 years for what started out as Western Electric then became AT&T Microelectronics (the company I retired from in early 1995) and then, after a spin-off, became Lucent (which they morphed me into a retiree from) and later the part that I worked in was spun off and became Agere which is currently scheduled to be purchased by LSI Logic ... shouldn't affect me because when Agere was spun off I still remained a Lucent retiree.

I feel some kind of kinship to all of this and that's why I visit here in this chat room once in awhile, however, the room has been devoid of any chatters for quite some time.

As a matter of full disclosure ... I lost a bundle on Lucent back a few years ago ... an amount I probably won't be able to make up in the few remaining years available to me.

Maybe in the future I'll become a ward of the states (the United States) if Alcatel-Lucent finds some way to wangle out of its pension liabilities and manages to shuffle them off ... not to Buffalo ... but to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC).

Incidentally, I don't intend to sell my 15 shares of Alcatel-Lucent ... commissions would only put a drain on things ... instead I'm leaving them to my grandchildren ... maybe by that time this company will have found someone who knows how to manage things ... Hors de la mort et des impôts, rien n\'est sûr en ce monde.
