Bama,
I say, suh. I have been accused of all manner of terrible things on this thread - up to and beyond having carnal knowledge of animals and having my character questioned in every conceiveable way - but I never thought to hear such a low-down accusation here. Totally uncalled for, I do say, suh.
While I admit that there may be people who carry my good name and were yankees, they are of no relation to me. If you will check the works of Elmo Ingerthon on the Ozark Plateau, you will find a Col. DC Cooper led troops into Ark. from the west. He continued fighting on the 'good side' until the end of the war - including resisting Shermans ruthless advance.
My family entered this country through North Carolina (I prefer to think of it as 'Less Southerly Carolina') and migrated west just ahead of 'civilization'. If one believes family lore, we kept moving west because we were run out of areas as they became civilized. There are cut-throats,rustlers,thieves, and murderers and all other manner of people in my family tree but absolutely no **^&*( yankees.
I demand a retraction of your statement, suh. If you are indeed a southern gentleman, you will contact SI and have your scurrilous post deleted so that people will not even accidently associate my name with yankees.
I demand satisfaction,suh.

Stars and Bars Forever,
lee
