Rich, are you saying Sony was defrauded? Do you think Sony wanted to buy into a weak temporary business which was designed to fail and be sold off to Sony's competitor Kyocera and that Sony wanted nothing but some experience in playing phone-maker?

< Qualcomm never had the intent, the desire nor the expertise to go into the handset or infrastructure business. They were forced into in in order to seed the market with hardware.>

I don't believe it.

Nortel hoped to just run a temporary infrastructure operation too?

See bonus post a click or two upstream for free extra rant.

I guess we'll just have to go on repeating our thoughts as I don't accept the argument that it was a temporary idea to make phones and infrastructure.

L M Ericsson bought the infrastructure division and employees were really annoyed to be sold down the river. To think they were conned into a plan to do so is perhaps argument for them to revisit some litigation. QCOM has a lot of lawyers now, so some employment and contract lawyers might as well get some business too. Nortel didn't buy the division for some reason.

QPE employees must have been disappointed to be sold down the river too and were no doubt misled into thinking they were part of the QUALCOMM team. Or maybe they were told they were just in a temporary unit and shouldn't expect much of a future.
