I am an Al Gore man now. Kerry my #1 choice as VP. Al Gore Rejects American Spirit endorsement Al Gore, reacting quickly to the news that American Spirit has endorsed him for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination, issued the following statement on Saturday morning: “I would like to adamantly reject the endorsement of American Spirit. I am not a candidate for the 2008 presidential nomination, and if I were a candidate, I could not in good conscience accept the endorsement of a known homophobe. Additionally, the fact that Mr. Spirit has repeatedly stated that only a “white male” should head up the Democratic ticket in 2008 strikes me as a little suspect. While we (with the exception of Senator Byrd) may no longer use the “N” word in polite society, the Democratic Party needs to reject those self-described insiders who hold outdated prejudices. As a practical matter, Mr. Spirit’s endorsements and advocacy efforts are the kiss of death. Ask Senator Kerry.
