As usual Sprite, you are completely out to lunch on the facts.

The NRA is an organization of riflemen dedicated to protecting The Second Amendment, and operates as a civil liberties organization. Formed in 1871 it's the oldest civil liberties group still functioning. It's one of the most effective special interest groups in history. The NRA has over four million members, and they come from the grass roots, like myself.

One reason that the NRA is so effective is because it concentrates on a small goal set, and dedicates all its resources to achieving those goals. It does not get distracted by irrelevant BS like so many leftwing groups do.

Here's what Wikipedia has to say about the NRA, and it's accurate:

The National Rifle Association, or NRA, is a non-profit group for the promotion of marksmanship, firearm safety, and the protection of hunting and personal protection firearm rights in the United States, established in New York in 1871 as the American Rifle Association. It sponsors firearm safety training courses, as well as marksmanship events featuring shooting skills and sports. The NRA is sometimes said to be the single most powerful non-profit organization in the United States. It predicates its political activity on gun ownership being a civil liberty protected by the Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights, and is the oldest continuously operating civil liberties organization in the United States. According to its website, the NRA has 4.3 million members.[1]

The NRA has no interest whatsoever in racial issues. It welcomes anyone who supports its goals, as outlined above.

The KKK, on the other hand, was founded in 1915, unless you count a defunct organization of the same name formed in 1866. It is a racist organization that has been universally condemned by most of American Society, despite its former membership having included one Robert Byrd, a Democrat.

Sprite, you know so little about the NRA that it would be better for you to keep your mouth shut than to confirm beyond all doubt that you are simply a masochistic ignoramus with a Kerry fetish.
