The 2nd Amendment does state a general permission to bear arms, but "arms" is mis-definied by the NRA to mean any kind of combat or automatic weapon. The 2nd Amendment does not say men can own artillery. In 1776 all they had were muskets otherwise. If they had had bakookas or AK-47's then those would have been regulated. Besides, the founding fathers were most worried about a takeopver of the government by the rightwing. Against the people for the rich special interests and religious nuts. That's the Bush GOP.

Those in need of a home protection device, fine. Just register it and learn how to use it. Concealed weapons permits should be very hard to get. Only if you really need it. As we see in Florida those are being given out to felons now and murders will result.

You don't have to join the NRA to learn how to use a gun. The NRA is a far rightwing cult and lobby which tries to indoctrinate and corrupt. It has no tolerance for the 60% of the country who disagrees with them.

Hunters in remote areas who really need the meat should own rifles. Others will anyway, or just inherit them. You can't take away the country man's hunting rifle. That's un-American. I'm for hunting rifles. I'm for target practice. I'm for skeet shooting and hunting when wild herds become over-populated.

The weapons the NRA is pushing are not hunting rifles, they are assault weapons. They are for killing human beings. They could end up potentially arming rightwing terrorists with military weapons. We saw in Oklahoma City what happens when a few NRA type nuts go crazy. It's not pretty.

So common sense and no Nazis controlling gun laws. That's all.
We don't need another Civil War.
