Bill,

You've demonstrated yet another example of the role played by sports in maintaining world peace:)

"[T]he two sides temporarily set aside their differences Thursday so the cable company could carry the most popular U.S. sporting event of the year in high definition."

Now, did they deliver the goods? And if they did, more importantly, was it worth the angst? Of course, I'm suppose watching torrential downpours in high-def has its benefits. If you couldn't tell by now, I do not have an HD setup yet, and perhaps more oddly, I'm not even contemplating one at this time. I suppose I'll wait for it to become the norm, like touch-tone dialing did at one point, from an era when rotary ruled the day after replacing the magneto. And what did the magneto replace? If nothing else, homeostasis and a sense of serenity that is not possible today for the electronic blizzards that permeate our every move. Come to think of it, maybe going out and getting a high-def unit so that I could enjoy a good concert or theatrical performance in their truest forms isn't such a bad idea, after all.
