I don't think you know Republicans as well as you think you do.

That's funny, considering that I've been active, off and on, in Republican politics for 20 years.

Rudy's big "negatives" as the party sees it, are support for abortion, gay rights, and gun control, plus, he saw his positions as similar to Bill Clinton's positions at least at one point in time.

Personally, I admire Rudy for wearing that dress, but many find it shocking.

McCain's big negatives are his age, his temper, and his unpredictability, also, he's said rude things about some evangelicals.

Romney's big negatives are being Mormon, and being liberal.

Those are the three front-runners.

Also in the pack are Tom Tancredo and Duncan Hunter, neither of which has a snowball's chance.

Others include Jim Gilmore, whom I like a lot, but he seems too stodgy, no charisma, and Newt Gingrich, lots of charisma but very nasty divorces and ethics violations. Both would make good vice presidents.

Giuliani still has a lot of star power left over from 9/11, and he's very appealing to the rest of the party if you don't try to cater to the Religious Right.

They're just going to have to make up their minds, nobody's going to suit everybody.
