I'm not going to get into this sort of argument, Stephen. They may well be working on a nuclear weapons program -- it would be many years from having a bomb according to experts, but it could be their intention. That's not the point of discussion though. The question is, what is rational to do, even assuming that is the case? Most reasonable people IMO, including several former US generals, think that a different path needs to be taken rather than feverishly preparing to bomb the country to rubble and open an even bigger Pandora's box than Iraq was. Iran would probably have a much more pro-western government in power if the belligerence of the US were not giving support to hard-liners. Iran is a young country -- and most young people want freedom. If the US promoted trade, dialogue, and cooperation with Iran rather than bullying them, it would probably have far better results for everyone (except the big weapons firms and some sadistic domination-greedy psychopaths). Frankly, I think that no one should have nuclear weapons. Or if some, like the US and Israel can have them, why not Canada, or why not others?
