My guess is that AMD chose low clock speeds in order to fit Barcelona into some rather aggressive power requirements. That way, they can give up on the GHz rat race and focus on maximizing performance per watt. AMD execs and the people who worship them (e.g. the recommend-droids) will say anything they want, but I don't think Barcelona will turn into a fiasco like Quad FX. Tenchusatsu
