I'm no expert on international law myself. I am very skeptical though about the "international community" and "international law". I think most efforts to form international institutions like the UN, international courts, etc. begin as well-intentioned but are quickly and probably inevitably subverted and end up serving evil ends.

Re. the other topic in the post you linked to:

I think the left is making a mistake about the mood and opinions of the country. They are leaping to the conclusion that the majority of the country feels the same rage they do.

Most non-leftists who are upset with Bush or the war are more likely to be critics of how things have been handled than with whether we fought a war or not. Hey, I supported the war and Bush and still do but I'm very disappointed with the way the administration has handled or mishandled the war up till now myself. I also note that many of the new Democrats recently elected ran conservative campaigns - whether they were conservative or not in truth is another matter.
