Air France Says January Passenger Figures Rose After Boosting Capacity

PARIS (AP) -- Air France-KLM, the world's biggest airline by revenue, said Wednesday that passenger traffic rose 2.2 percent in January as the company boosted capacity.
The total number of passengers carried in the first month of the year rose to 5.5 million, the company said in a statement.

The strongest increase in traffic, which also includes cargo planes, was in Asia where traffic gained 6.8 percent.

The load factor -- or the amount of capacity taken up -- remained steady in January at 79 percent.

Air France shares dipped 0.6 percent to euro35.28 (US$45.65).
