Well... if we are going to 'target' the Saudis, and 'target' Iran... then what the HELL is our justification for protecting them from *each other*?

It just sounds schizophrenic and defeatist on it's face.

And, if they are so eager to shoot at EACH OTHER, contest with each other, the Sunni-dominant Islamic world against the Shiite-minority in Islam... then WHY need *we* bleed for them, or bankrupt ourselves trying to hold them apart?

LET THEM FIGHT... and we can sit back and accrue the benefits.
