Vista is not the only, while siginificant, factor.

Other factors include:

* Internet video/TV is gaining momentum, which requires much more powerful servers and network gears, which in turn requires much larger RAM space.

* PC/notebooks also require much more RAM in order to run video and IPTV applications.

* Almost every large flat LCD/Plasma HDTV consumes a lot of RAM

* All the newer PCs/Notebooks/servers that use dual core CPU demand much more RAM to match the higher performance.

These are reasons among others why the RAM price has kept constantly high for the past 3 years.
