Hi Spots, I rehabilitated myself by sticking to stocks!!! That way, if I was wrong in the short term I found that I could still be right more often than not in the long term...
On your comments regarding Tandem, I assume you are talking about 'hardware' fault tolerance, correct me if I am wrong but I doubt Tandem's non-stop (is it still called that??) OS is more reliable than MVS. I guess we could argue endlessly on the mainframe, I certainly don't know that it WON'T go away, but remember that prices of these machines are also falling quite rapidly, so they may be around longer than anyone thinks. Lest anyone get the feeling I'm a mainframe bigot, that is not the case, I'm intrigued with PC tech, but having worked on mainframe software for a long time I have a good understanding of that arena. Actually, these days I'm mostly interested in making good trading decisions. So far this year I have made good money consistently, but have also left much on the table (by pulling the trigger and selling too quickly while a particular stock was in a strong uptrend).
