You're saying that Saddam WAS Iraq and that without Saddam there was no possibility of Iraq staying together as a single country.

Does that make any sense?

I think that most Iraqis were looking forward to getting Saddam booted out. Why wouldn't they? He was a dictator and a nasty one at that.

A relatively small minority wasn't pleased but even Baathists didn't whole heartedly love Saddam. This is the argument that makes no sense to me. Iraqis are just people and, tribal or not, Muslim or not, sectarian or not, they are looking for what most people look for: peace, stability, jobs, schools and what passes for general happiness in this world.
