Its very hard for me to understand that pushy belligerent I'm f'kin better than you are attitude... but I have seen it before in some folks from NYC and New Jersey.

Here in Colorado/Wyoming that kind of attitude just makes enemies...

Here, it seems to be all about being friendly and helpful.

Neighbors tend to be gentle with each other, because the opposite of that is unpleasant.

When I first got here in 2000 I was in a medium size shopping center, in Ft. Collins, I think, waiting for traffic to clear before I stepped out into the parking lot. Then an amazing thing happened:

The cars just stopped and waited for me to cross. There was no painted cross walk or stop signs. Folks just stopped. It shocked me, coming from S. Fla.

I really like that kind of thing.

LIG does not seem to understand any of that.
