Thanks for pointing out some information I wasn't aware of and I don't have a problem looking at this objectively. Currently there's no lack of other markets for canola and having insufficient supplies would move prices up short-term but also push markets to look for alternate long-term solutions. Anyway, what's the point of profit if we all end up sick from it?

I can also agree on the jury being out on some of this nutritional data.

With the GMO side of it, I'm in total agreement with you. The long-term studies are currently being conducted with us as the guinea pigs. If we've learned anything at all about human health it's that it can take decades for a problem to manifest itself.

I feel the Canadian government (the "sponsorship" Liberals' watch) really let us down by not segregating these biological aberrations from nature. Who in their right mind would unleash that in open-pollinated varieties especially when other options were available? Monsanto also set a legal precedent when they won a case in which they claimed to own any seed that contained their traits. That potentially includes any conventional plant within pollination distance. In what world does that make sense? Nowadays, there's just no point in growing conventional canola since it's getting cross-pollinated with your neighbor's GM canola.
