There are two main problems with Canola outside its polyunsats.. while it is mostly mono I admit.. and that is the trans fats that are present when it is processed in deodorizing, and the Erucic acid content which can run a tad high. The tests were done on an earlier version of canola, and on animals which have different systems than humans.

You cannot always extrapolate test results on animals to people. Often they are completely different. For instance you can cause cholesterol in rabbits by feeding them cake! But the cholesterol will occur all over the rabbits' veins and arteries whereas in humans no such effect occurs on such a diet, or rather it takes much longer, and also the cholesterol only occurs in arteries near the heart.

However the weight loss effect of conjugated linolenic acid which was first tested on cows, also work in people. So you have to watch animal problems with test. They are a red flag if nothing else.
