I truly do understand your concerns re the Canadian and US borders...remember I live in Seattle, and we love to go to Canada.
The only suggestion I have is....well, two suggestions.
1) Have our Government and your Government sign an agreement that IF a single murdering barbarian comes through the Canadian border to the US, the Canadian Government will pay for any damage done, including restitution to the families of any the murdering barbarian/s killed here.
Actually, it could work both ways. We could sign that agreement as well.
But that is all well and good for the actual border crossings themselves. How would each country handle the people who tried to cross illegally where there wasn't an actual "stop or I'll pretend I'm going to shoot" crossing.....???
2) What if someone from wherever in the world these folks come from comes across our borders without a passport, or ID, or anything else...comes across ILLEGALLY....and goes directly from here to your country, and causes a little bio terrorism in Canada...
How would you feel about that?
One good way to solve the problem is, if your Country didn't want to do as I suggest above, is that your Country keep all the ILLEGALS up there in your country...near the Tundra, in huge holding buildings. We could even pay for the buildings, and could share the cost of employing the necessary guards and cooks.
But really, all that is silly. I personally think that Americans will come to Canada for all the reasons we've always come to Canada. And hopefully, the Canadians will continue coming here. Both countries need to not to do harm to the other.
I don't think the Americans dislike the Mexicans either. Most of just dislike the fact that they are breaking our laws, coming into this country, and then demanding that we give them all the benefits of being a citizen of the US. |
