Jews, Muslims enjoy peaceful coexistence: Friday prayers leader

A provincial prominent religious leader said here Saturday that Jews and Muslims enjoy peaceful coexistence in this western province.

Ayatollah Mohammad-Hossein Zarandi, the Supreme Leader's representative and Friday prayers leader of this provincial capital city made the remark in his address at a Jewish synagogue on the occasion of the Ten-Day-Dawn ceremonies, marking the 28th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

He said all should defend the rights of the Jews since they are followers of a divine religion.

He praised services rendered by the Jewish society in the past three decades and paid tribute to Jewish martyrs of the 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war.

Also addressing the ceremony, the representative of the Jewish community to the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis), Maurice Motamed, expressed his satisfaction with the existing relations between the Iranian Jews and Muslims.

He said that Iranian Jews have always been active participants in affairs of the country in the past three decades.

Motamed further said that Iranian Jews are ready to defend the aspirations of the Islamic Revolution.
